[Milsurplus] Shakespeare whips

On the topic of Shakespeare aerials. 
 
I have several of their 8ft white fiber marine whips, I think they are  
either the 10-3 or 4208 types designed for Loran C. I emailed Shakespeare to ask  
if these were internally loaded whips or just single conductors up the centre  
but got no reply. 
 
They have a 3/8 thread on the bottom and screw straight into the PRC74 and  
other manpacks here. It seems to load up ok on 20mtrs so I'm guessing its ok. 
 
I was going to make a small bracket for the portable mast to mount 2 of  them 
as a loaded dipole, just need to figure out loading coils etc.
 
Anyone else played with these ?
