Until 1944, that would have been the best of the available sets.  But other 
possibilities are SCR-178 and SCR-288.  Given that the SCR-284 barely made it 
onto the transports in time for the landings in North Africa, I'd guess that in 
the Summer of 1942, especially given the low priority of operations in the 
Pacific in general and Alaska in particular, the other two are more likely.
