Used what the Army called "Detent Tuning"   i.e., the knobs clicked into 
position at 1 mHz and 100 kHz positions respectively. The 100 kHz knob could be 
used in either detent or continuous mode tuning.   Rate in the latter mode would 
be VERY quick for tuning in a 6 kHz AM channel but possible I would guess.
