That says it all.  I agree.

We just purchased some file servers.  They're 7 years old, but for our 
purposes they're just fine.

Without the e-bay service, these may have ended up in a landfill, 
leaching heavy metals.  Instead, we're putting them to good service.

Sure, there's a few scum of the earth stealing via e-bay, but eventually 
they are caught up with and thrashed.  Use of payment methods that offer 
protection is the best insurance; getting to know the seller is another.
