It's there service, they make the rules, if enough people dislike it they

concept anyhow. I never buy something that way. If I sell something through
internet (i seldom have done that) I name the price I want for it so that's
no more but also no less.. Ebay, worlds biggest garbage bin. :-) You pull a
rusty nail out of the wall, put it on ebay, tell it its 80 years old and ask
20 euro for it and probably sell it too....

Well, I'm amazed. "its their service", "its their rules" So what?

And all the other comments, via the groups and direct (also, its polite to
put your name to personal messages).

Something is a "service" when one has the option of taking it or not. When
its forced upon everyone its not a "service".

Regardless of Ebays rule why should someone be 'compelled' to use PP?

I have paid Ebay to list my item, I have paid Ebay their commission on the
sale. Now, when a totally independent party, the buyer, wants to pay me why
should Ebay have a say in that? They have been paid for their "service", the
listing on the world wide web of my item. Now, once sold it has nothing to do
with them. Its now a deal between me and my buyer. What other auction house
forces buyers to pay via their subsidiaries?

Frankly, if that cannot be seen, well, maybe you do deserve to have more of
your money taken off you.

You had better watch out. If Ebay can do why not others. Other suppliers of
"services" might start telling you to pay via their own off shoot company.
You'll not be able to pay with cash, not with cheque, not with postal orders,
not with 3rd party credit cards. You will be forced to use their card, for
which they will charge you a fee.

As for the message above, well, if you don't like bidding and don't use
Ebay, what are you commenting for? The 'garbage bin' as you call it has brought
some interesting items to the surface, which might have gone to the tip
otherwise. Ebay has its good points, I just feel they are now taking advantage.

But, sapienti sat, Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes and Caveat
Emptor.

Ben.
