Not that I care one way or the other but it's actually a partial regression
to an earlier way, not something new. When "credit cards" first became common,
small outfits who couldn't afford to issue their own credit cards could, for
a heft fee, set up to take the general purpose ones. Large ones, like oil
companies, Sears, etc., issued their own cards. If you wanted to use a credit
card you used theirs. Period. If you didn't, you paid cash (or check, etc.).
