The holders may have been but the required tolerance (read the
exchange regarding tolerances for the transmitters - probably applies
here too.) was actually closer than that for the existing DC-8-*
crystals at the time which lead to the new designation DC-8-C with
refined specifications.

The DC-8-C holders have serial numbers which I find amusing.  Do the
other DC-8-* holders have them as well?
