Excellent point. I doubt that the Project Hope ship was still a "USS"
after they re-named it.
My guess is that it's a lot more likely candidate for the source of
the radio gear than the ship that was decommissioned in 1946. It's
pretty obvious that the current owners really don't know *what* they
have. I'd bet that it's something they just "found" and now are trying
to move out.
