[Milsurplus] eBay does it

One can only say it is coming! We run a business and take a multitude of
credit cards, including PayPal. Local bank, and am sure others are doing
the same, is now issuing "traverler's cards". These are plastic traveler's
check devices that are 'preloaded' at the bank and processed just like any
credit card.
Now, big thing for us, we get "dinged" anywhere from 2.8-3.4 % on each
transaction, depending on the card issuer. Bank says it is a sign of the
times and they predict they will NOT process paper checks in 5 years or
less. Of course there will always be CASH transactions but they forsee no
paper drafts for payment being accepted by anyplace hardly. They prefer
ACH, automatic drafts, and everything electronic transfers. I don't like it
particularly in that if we have a lot of plastic transactions, it reduces
our take by about 3%, that is an automatic overhead you can't escape.
Thinking about not taking them, but banker says no.
The younger generation is all for this, have a daughter, 20+ generation, and
she does NOT carry cash nor a checkbook. And says that none of her friends
do either. Sigh! Long for $20 bills at swapfests!!
E Pay might be ahead of the curve on this. Of course they own PayPal,
financed by GE Money Bank. As the ad says, "Whats in your wallet?".
