Thought I'd give an after action report for the hamfest at Huntsville this
past weekend. Since it is in my back yard so to speak, I am fortunate to
attend every year. I'd say it is one of the better ones in the South East,
held at our Civic center all indoors so no rain or heat to contend with.
Last year we hosted the ARRL convention. This year the turnout was about the
same as last year, so I think we had a great attendance. I shared a swap
table with some friends and from our sales I'd say there was a good bit of
buying and selling going on even with the economy the way it is.
Now onto the green stuff,
Saw a TCS pair offered by Eric , a friend and member here on the list. I
think Eric said he sold a PRC-6 before I got to his table but I think the
TCS went back home with him. If anyone is looking, I'll get you together.
Saw someone toting away a piece of ARC5 gear, but from the distance I
couldn't ID it.
Saw some aircraft gear, I think it was an ARC-51.
An R390 as usual made an appearance, but didn't find a new home.
There was a shock mount for a newer piece of gear, perhaps a sincgars.
On the telephone side there was a TA-954 digital voice terminal, but just
one unit.
One guy was doing a brisk business selling the fiberglass mast poles. They
sure are handy to throw up a quick inverted-V.
I lucked out early on Saturday and found an RS-6 with all four pieces in
pretty good shape.
It isn't Dayton, but it is a lot closer for me.
