Ben,

I've no idea what it takes in order to mail a small package from the UK to
the US but you seem not to understand what it takes from here to there, and
never mind any added export restriction considerations. On small items valued at
less than about $30 and weighing less than 4 pounds and that one isn't
terribly concerned should they get lost or stolen you can use First Class Mail in a
small box. Not including postage itself, it costs me between $40 and $55 in
direct and indirect expenses to ship one small package. For a larger item
going Priority Mail the cost is about $10 to $15 more. Costs are a combination of
time to complete forms, time and petrol for the round trip to the PO, time
spent waiting in line to get up to the counter (in the que) and time spent at
the counter. By comparison, if I only have a few relatively lightweight items,
it's a 40 foot trip to the front door and back. Sometimes delayed slightly if
our little dog decides she wants to see what's out front first.

So before you bitch about sellers who won't ship a $10 or $15 or even $50
item to the UK, you should understand why many aren't willing to put up with the
hassle.

All that being said, my wife and I both ship anywhere. Vintage clothing
isn't on any restricted list and very little Korean War or earlier stuff is
either. I just cleaned up a used U-229/U. $10.00 plus shipping if you want it.
