That last statement may be a little misleading.  An appropriately-wired A.R.C. 9585 18-pin connector would be plugged in to the MD-7 in place of a cable going to a C-29:

Pin   Wired to   Pin
  1                6     Select transmitter 1
  7               13     Ground modulator cathodes
  7               14     Turn off 1000 cps sidetone
  7               16     Complete voltage regulator circuit
  9               12     Connect PTT switch to dynamotor start relay
 10               17     Connect VOICE sidetone
 15               18     Complete transmitter power switch circuit
