Not all of the WW2 sea battles were primarily carrier aircraft 
battles. There were some Pacific War actions which were
really ship to ship slogging matches, big guns, torpedoes,
and all that. No, i'm sure his setup did not employ anything
as sophisticated as COR; he was just using a commerically
available disk recorder. Yes, that would have provided only
VERY limited recording time, only snatches of the action.
