I agree with those that have been shot at, whether hit or not. War is not a
game, nor is it particularly fun to see your buddies get hurt or killed.
Those of us that have experienced it don't want to do it again unless there
is a very good reason. The WW II vets had that reason and basically save
the world from what would have been a horrible future. War or what ever you
want to call it should not be entered into lightly. The Battleship cove
should be looked at as a lesson in sacrifice by the people of the world to
stop something that could not be allowed. I sometimes wonder if we really
learned that lesson.

I think Massachusetts is being portrayed a bit unfairly. I have no great
love for the state, but it has sure done it's share for US freedoms. These
come instantly to mind:
Battles of Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill
Mass. Constitution (which guarantees more freedoms than the US one)
MIT Radiation Lab (think design of most WW II US radars & the Rad Lab
books)
MIT Instrumentation Lab (now C.S. Draper Labs).... (Mk 14 gunsight;
inertial guidance for planes, subs, and ICBMs)
Raytheon (Submini tubes =>> Proximity Fuze); Submarine Signal (SONAR),
Hawk & Patriot & Sidewinder
The many people of Mass are freedom loving and don't just blindly follow
politicians into silly wars, knowing full well the horrors therein. That
attitude has been distorted by the opposition for its propaganda purposes.
YMMV,
-John
