WWII Museums and memorials aren't about "the last 30 years."
We're commemorating the people of 1944, not 1994.
In 1944, Japan was the enemy and a valid memorial
must proceed from that point.
In 1944, the Japanese were beheading POWs on a whim,
starving them while working them to death.
Ask the Mongolians about 1944 Japan.

I do not condem the modern people of Japan.
Few remain who did anything shameful during the war,
and I don't believe in visiting the sins of the fathers on the sons.
But *we* do something shameful if we pretend it
didn't happen or forget the men and women of that time,
within the context of their time,
just because our current pacifist, impotent, self-indulgent
and politically correct culture is afraid of offending someone.
IMHO, we need to start "offending" a few more people
and telling them to for-God's-sake grow up and get over it.
