Same here with my TCS-8 running as-was from the 1091. 

 

Why are you running that? 25W AM!? It'll never get out. No-one's
listening! No-one will hear you! 

 

My smiling reply was always: "This is the same kind of rig the boat had
when it was decommissioned in the late 1950's. Same as what the radio
ops had when the 1091 was running troops onto the shore under fire. Fair
is fair."
