>From NY Times, Oct. 7, 2007, obit of Gen. John P. Henebry.
Flew 219 missions in Pacific war theater; leading role in
developing "skip bombing" as operations officer of the Third
Attack Group - "The Grim Reapers"; author of memoir "The
Grim Reapers". ( Another book to add to my list. )
Also, "Smithsonian Magazine" for October 2007: "Swamp
Ghosts - A journalist's quest to learn more about his father's
death in New Guinea in 1942 leads him to another WW2
casualty: a U.S. bomber that crashed there the same year."
4 pages text; 4 good photos. Same article can be read at
www.pacificwrecks.com but unfortunately sans photos.
Also unfortunately, this potentially fascinating site is crippled
by the the tiny and unsophisticated graphics offered.
