There is a real ethical problem for me here.

(A)  I've always followed the policy of not interfering with a
transaction in progress. Suppose a buyer and seller are negotiating a
deal, I will not jump in and say "I'll pay $X more than that" , because
I believe it's bad form at the very least. I've had it done to me a
number of times by dealers in the northeast (one chronic offender is
named Andy) and it REALLY pi$$es me off.

(B)  The other thing is I don't like to see a family member get ripped
off.

There is no good answer, AFAIK, except to help to make the professional
scavengers pay a fair price for things if you are in a position to
advise the seller of an estate.
