Tom I  reckon you're right, at least the greed aspect of humankind.  But 
I also think this where eBay has had a positive influence - everyone has 
heard about eBay and there's nothing more motivating than the thought 
that that old (insert your choice here:) guitar, fishing gear, gun, 
radio, etc. up in the attic or in grandpa's barn is worth a small 
fortune.  Most every widow or family of a SK knows someone who can do an 
eBay search, at least based on what I've heard at hamfests in recent 
years, so while the sharks are still out there, the prey are hopefully 
more wary also.
