Precisely. To minimize the required component parts &  the left to right desk
span.  I still dunno about disposing of the ATB; in ER Walt Hutchens reviewed
it in admiring terms. I like the size and form-factor but the lack of an onboard
meter has always bugged me. It DOES have a high gadget factor, for sure, 
like the pull out calibration charts, for example. - Hue Miller
