[Milsurplus] Cluster Beacon

[Unserviceable but Repairable]

That was the name of the system about which B17s orbited while
getting entire formation airborn.  Have never heard term before

Cluster beacon is a term used for a russian svc. that may be
used for propagation tests today.  That's all I cud divine.

Had asked B17 gunner fella if YE-ARN-1 might have been used to
find home fields just miles apart.  He said he was never so trained
but hearsay was they'd use same formation 'cluster beacons' to
find home.

Air traffic over rural England must have been amazing in '44.
AMAZING!

And they always found home unless weathered out whereupon they'd
plop down in neighboring base

A-N radio ranges take lotsa real estate but may have been the cluster
beacon
