Dear Lumberjack

in bullet format

o - The #@!$ing TCS only goes to 12mcs - fergit 20m

o - The external 'atu' for use on short ant.s under 2mcs (see book)

0 - if u crank out all L on front panel & switch out the 'xtra c,'
then u have output ala 'swinging link' (called variometer in
one response).* So a variable C in series with output will cancel
link L & u can load her right into a coax cable. Does 66'
    cf dipole strike a chord?

              --OR--

Just take any 15 ft or there abouts near-vertical wire & load her up
per book on 7mcs. Antenna MUST connect directly to panel post
since, contrary to folklore, that rotary inductor &
switchable cap IS the 'base loading coil' for the vertical that
    starts right there.

Without a ground system (counterpoise) you'll get some RF on the
mic, but at 12Watts output.... c'mon, you're tough as a
    lumberjack

Hope that's OK

   'rm

*the output networks in command sets, TCSen, etc. are design triumphs.
they're meant to work with most anything & the antenna IS CONSIDERED
to start at the tx. This is the most profoundly disunderstood item
in hf mil-box tx civvy re-use. The most.

If you observe this stuff, you'll never be tempted to bust into such
a hf mil-box tx & 'improve the output circuit.'
