That was the policy when I signed up. It was changed approximately in
the summer or fall of 2001. Up until that time, no credit card was
required to sell.. just >+10 FBs.

I agree. eBay simply provides a virtual Dayton, IMO. Hence my concern
about eBay's right to collect data.

I consider everything they don't have a specific 'need to know' a
privacy intrusion. All a seller needs to know is that the funds are
good. Once funds are received and cleared, all a seller needs to know is
the ship to address.
