Hi, Folks,
Okay, time for my aperiodic grovel.
If you would please, cast your minds back to the period from the late
1920s on up to the threshold of WW II. A.R.C was beginning to make
their presence felt in the aircraft communications and navigation
arenas but they had competition. Gordon White has very kindly
supplied me with a manual for the SCR-240 so that base is well
covered. Still lacking is any information on the SCR-134, Bendix's
SCR-274-A and -B and anything else that might have been part of that
era, civilian or military, that could have been a problem for A.R.C.'s
rise.
With that, I'm given to understand that the Type D based
SCR-A*-183/283 sets (Pretty much the SCR-AD-183/283 and later, I
think) had interchangable parts except the SCR-AG-183/283 which used
different coils. If this is so, how were they different and, if it's
known, why? I do know the Type B derived transmitters used a
different coil set (Each plug-in had only one coil in it.) but I can't
imagine why there would be a change later for one order only.
Third, I need manuals, schematics, files, rumors, gossip et al on the
ARR-1 (and its predecessors) and the ARR-2. Control boxes would be
lovely as well. I can even pay coin of the realm for them.
And last, if anyone has available the control heads for an ARN-30(*) I
would love to buy them. The connectors for them as well, come to
think of it. Early ones would be prefered since it looks like I'll
have the R-13 to go with them but I can probably put together a later
(crystal controlled) one as well. An ARN-14 to mate with it would be
cool too.
I think that petty much does it for this session.
BEst regards,
Michael
