Don't mistake this insurgency with the Rhodesia / Zimbabwe
war or South Africa. Mau Mau technology was some rifles, pistols,
and spears.
The insurgents, from what little i've read, but which is still something,
were at a low education level and with a superstitious, magical worldview.
What would they have done with radios?
BTW, the SSB-1 seems a rather large and expensive radio for
farm alert use, and rather high powered. That part is just my opinion.
But maybe for government base station use?
In this war, the colonial government was to successfully "dry up the
pond" of the insurgents, forcing them to live off the land, isolated from
village supporters and supplies.
