AN/APR-9() was standard ECM receiver
in B-52B through F models. It covered
1.0-10.0 plus KMC (as labeled on panel)
if I recall. AN/APR-14 (if memory serves)
was the 30-1000 MCS receiver we used.
LONGGGGG time ago. I left SAC in 1966
after some 20 or so B-52F missions from
Anderson AFB, Guam (including the first).
The G and H models had better ECM gear
and almost all of the D through F models
later got the latest good thing except for
a few unlucky wings that got sent over
for Linebacker with old nuke war stuff.
They got clobbered big time. Some folks
should have been hanged for that, but
the brass kept repeating mistakes that
everyone knew had been made in WW II
such as Ploesti raid.
Best regards,

Marty,
I don't think so. I can't remember ever working on Navy receivers. (I
think the AN/APR-9 was AF - but the Navy may have used them too.) The
system I'm thinking about was a series of tuners about half the size of
a footlocker each, plus the CRT unit & power supplies. The pre-selector
cavities were tuned by a cam/piston arrangement with an arc of 10-12
inches. And there was a tracking adjustment about every 1/4 inch. A
real bear to align. The whole system probably weighed as much or more
than two BC-610's.
