My point was that, if the original power supply system is to be used, there's always a significant demand for 400 Hz AC power, even during receive mode.  To escape that, one would have to come up with all-new power supplies powered from 60 Hz to supply everything that did NOT have to have 400 Hz.

As will I be if ever I get my AN/ARC-38 or -38A running.  There's no point at all in trying to run any of this ancient gear if we are going to re-design it in the process.
