[Milsurplus] Can you recognise this item?

No difinitive answer as yet but I will add a few more observations.
I agree that this is certainly not for use in aircraft as the frame is made
from cast iron.
Not sure of country of origin - however, the only parts that have
munufacturer's names are the motors and microswitches and those are all made
in the United States.
There is what appears to be a date stamp, 5-44
The dials (and tuning gangs) can be rotated via the knobs on the front and
also appear to be rotated by the motors via gearboxes. The microswitches
appear to limit the rotation by the motors. Seems to indicate both manual
and automatic control of the tuning assembly.
Have done a quick Google search but failed to find reference to the "Flat"
and "Slope" nomenclature.
So, the hunt continues for the difinitive answer.
