China Lake). I submitted a screen shot from Spectrum Lab showing some well known nearby signals
(such as NPM, NAA, and the ever-present TV horizontal sweep) and now have a QSL card! As far as I
know, I am possibly the ONLY station to have ever received SAQ on the West Coast. I seem to recall
another station in Colorado or Utah that received them as well that year....
Thanks for your interesting note. I wondered. I live in coastal Oregon, there is a rock breakwater
forming a channel from the harbor that goes out maybe a quarter mile. And give maybe a more
over water path. This would surely get away from much of the noise, but would require a battery
powered receiver and possibly a ferrite core antenna for portability. If i had the gear handy, i
would surely try it, but- as Mike F. pointed out, time is costly and in short supply. -Hue
