Altho the NOS BC-348 will go for a premium price, someone will "need" that
specification, remember there were a LOT of BC-348s made. Wasn't the figure
something like ~100K ? This plus the general oversupply of shortwave equipment
for today's fewer HF users means that you see them continuously on Epay. If a
person can live with one that's not officially NOS then there are ones still around
that are in exceellent condition, as well as all the others down the scale.
I am recalling now one i saw that was in "great" condition but so totally reworked
on the cabinetry that i hardly recognized it as a BC-348. Now i wish i had bought
it. I am kinda actually getting to have a tender spot for hamified surpus radios.
I recently got an APN-1 converted to some kind of ham transceiver. Got to trace
out the circuit.
I also remember pretty well the BC-348 i bought from a TX fellow advertising in
ER a decade back. Ad said "excellent condition BC-348-B". Looked like it had been
stored on his back porch for some time - lots of mud and some corrosion. This from
a "Collins collector" - imagine! -Hue Miller
