[Milsurplus] microphone

Good evening to the group,
 
While going through a box of cables I ran across a microphone with USN  
markings on what looks to be a chest mount.  It looks like it should have  straps 
on it.  The microphone has the markings CAU 51077 on it, and the  chest mount 
is a CAU 51078.  Does anyone know what this was used for and  when it was used? 
 I'm thinking probably a gunnery officer.
