[Milsurplus] BC-650-A application

The  BC-650-A is, as I have learned was a two channel battery powered receiver combination that could monitor IFF signals at VHF. 

How was it used? As a calibrator or in an aircraft ,or both? 

Does anyone have a picture and /or are there any that have been archived in a museum? 

The regen receiver uses an inductor whose value is not given- any ideas of the value? 

Finding the schematic got me curious.
