Marty & Group,

First, I found the T.O. 08-10-165 I was supposed to have. Covers only
BC-191-N. Unfortunately, it did not shed any light on my main question, which is
why the jump from -F to -N.

Second, I am beginning to suspect that I miscounted the number of Change 1's
to TM 11-800 I had and sold all of them. So if Don Merz or James Beeler are
on this list, please check and see whether you still have the ones I sold you
11 years ago.

Third, all models of BC-191 have two sets of connectors. It took some
digging but I finally found that blanket statement buried in the text in TM 11-800.
The schematics in TM 11-800, TM 11-4017, TM 11-310 and T.O. 08-10-165 are
misleading in that they only show one set. But if you look at the "fine print",
plus a photo in TM 11-800 identified as Bottom View of BC-191-(*) and the left
end photo, you will see two different four-digit numbers apply to side and
bottom connectors as well as microphone and key jacks. The side mounted units
are numbered 112n while the bottom units are numbered 117m (n and m do not
match, either). If you look carefully at the schematics in any of the manuals,
you will see two four-digit numbers plus the SO-nn or JK-nn number next to each
socket or jack.

Finally, what started this was that I was offered a TU-3-N for the
MT-1518/ARR-41 that I listed here a few days ago for X dollars or best offer, plus a
note that I was looking for TU-2, -3 or -4.. I was hoping to learn what the
significance of the N was but maybe that will turn up one day. I've decided to
accept the swap offer on the basis that beggers can't be choosers. I'll respond
to each of the rest of you who responded with a non-insulting offer (there
always has to be one in any group) after I crawl out from under the mountain of
Susie's ebay sales from yesterday.

Oh, and AN/VRC-3 is the vehicular version of SCR-300 (BC-1000). AN/VRC-1 is
SCR-193 plus SCR-542. The "official" transmitter model is BC-191-A. Which
is passing strange as the VRC-1 manual dates from 1945.
