[Milsurplus] led-asid batts

I've ruined a few in my time - and probably will some more, accidentally ... 
not even the "deep-cycle marine" batts are suitable for radio use; they're 
still not designed to discharge WAAAY down w/o killing them.  Only golf-cart 
and floor-cleaning- machine batts survive such abuse, and they're typically 
over $100 each, and are often in "odd" voltages such as 8v.  Not a biggie 
for milsurp guys, since 3x8=24 ...

My experience fits the info re: avalance discharge as the batt drops; i.e., 
the lower it goes, the faster it dies ... a low-v. drop-out crkt is the only 
good answer, as a GRC-9's dyno sply is murder when you get involved in a QSO 
and aren't paying attention to batt v. ...    e
