[Milsurplus] Laser-engraved ID plates

Can they get the extra-fine detail and sharp lettering
of a stamped plate?  If so, it would help with a lot of
stuff that's been "de-tagged."  I'm a stickler for nomenclature tags,
to the point that I rarely will collect a radio that's missing its tags.  
For instance- the only way to reliably tell the difference between 
a common first-run ARC NOs-74912 ARA receiver 
and an extremely rare ARC NOs-72445 RAV receiver 
is the nomenclature tag.  There are other ways, should 
there be a reader with visions of skullduggery ;-).
