At the May 2006 MRCG meet in San Louis Obispo CA, Tom WA6OPE and Andy
KD6TKX had over 1 mile communication useing BC-222's.I was privileged
to communicate with Tom from Andy's end and I was impressed by how such
a simple set could provide excellent clear communication.Andy "netted"
to Tom by tuning to Tom's regen receiver. That too surprised me that a
regan's oscillation could broadcast over a mile.Leads one back to the
US Navy's fears of dfing receiver LO's and such, which has been a
subject of controversy.
Very neat little set, looks just like something out of a mid '30's QST
or ARRL handbook.Worth adding to any collection if you have a chance to
aquire one.
