Dave,

By the end of the War, the Signal Corps had nothing to do with BC-348's.  The 
Air Force politicians were well into their drive to prove that strategic 
bombing alone could win wars and the Army and Navy ought to be immediately 
abolished.  And had effectively run the Signal Corps out of the avionics business.  
And killed a lot of soldiers including the CG of Army Ground Forces in the 
process.  What you have is probably either Department of Commerce or Hallicrafters 
EP-298.
