In real life, or just in the movie??
One thinks of the X-1 as more or less a USAF-related contraption, but if the USN's VHF AN/ARC-5 was used in it, one would have thought they'd have rather used the USN's AN/ARC-1 instead. There's not much difference in total system weight and volume for the all-in-one-box AN/ARC-1 compared to that occupied by the T-23 and rack, the R-28, DY-2A and rack, and the MD-7 and DY-8 and mount.
(Personally, I'd have preferred the AN/ARC-3, though that would definitely be somewhat larger and heavier.)
