I agree.  Large hamfests may still be the best places to find this large popular stuff at less than ebay prices.  I got a perfect condition and almost perfect appearance R-648/ARR-41 at Dayton four years ago for $100.  It had sat on the seller's table for nearly a day, so there wasn't a lot of competition for it.

At that same hamfest a fellow had a *complete* new-condition AN/GRC-19, with all the components made by the same contractor on the same order number, and all the latest models, like the T-195B, and of course the R-392.  I think he wanted $500, yet it didn't sell in three days at the Dayton flea market.  I guarantee you couldn't get it for that on ebay.  I was tempted, but that stuff is too big for my collection.

I like ebay best for finding those small odd-ball items that won't likely be found in a decade of hamfest attendance...like manuals, shock mounts, mounting plates, AVT-15 remote control panels, etc.
