Hmmm ... I need to bump this up to around 2 watts. A small but

It's better evidence than none. It also seems to be the general trend
of thought. 50 ohms is good. I like this.

Nah, it sucks. I"m thinking more along the lines of a small peltier
or two and a couple of 12 volts. Oh, and moving air around the back,
not the front. Except for the fan location, I'm also thinking the
same alteration for a PRC-47 for SSB/RTTY on the lower bands since it
needs a serious bit of chill as well.
The amp I'm looking at is the one based on Motorola's Ap Note AN762
that Communications Concepts sells as a kit. That followed by an SGC
autotuner aught to do just fine. The PA's actually rated at 140 watts
(or 180 with a change in output transistors) but I'll probably run it
weak, in part so it will love me long time. <G>
