More on AN/GLQ-2 and AN/MRQ-2. The official name of the MD-22 jammer tone
generator is Training Generator. The manual on the MD-22 (which otherwise
covers the generator in typical fashion) describes it as a signal source for
training radio operators to work through jamming. Could be. If so, it's a
remarkable example of economy by the Army, using a jammer generator to train against
jamming instead of building something else for the purpose. However, if it
were only for training, it wouldn't have the vehicular shock mount, and wouldn't
have retained the suitcase carrying handle.
