[Milsurplus] SCR-284 installation varieties?

Other day saw a couple period photos of jeeps with SCR-284. One clearly had the
sawed-down FM-41 mounted on, i think, the wheel well on the driver side. The other
also had the radio on the driver side, but it was in the space between driver seat and
wheel well, against wall of course. The PE-103 was in the space between driver and 
passenger seat. It was not evident in this photo whether a sawed -down FM-41 was
under the radio or if the radio  rested on some kind of shelf that was part of the jeep.
