[Milsurplus] $400+ for a T-17???

The $400+ T-17 has 7 holes, and I recall three holes in the originals 
I had in the '50s, as does Todd:

"I have a couple with modified mouthpieces, someone having drilled
extra holes above and beyond the original 3 that were there.
Apparently hoping to boost their audio? One has a very nicely done
sunburst pattern from a creative former user."

So, how many original hole patterns were there?  Indication of 
vintage, or of manufacturer?

And, lest you all forget, the background noise where the T-17 was 
intended to be used is a few dB louder than your hamshack, or even 
mobile installation (Unless you are sitting under a jet exhaust).
