The RCAF had a matching set in WW2:
The AR2 receiver and AT1 transmitter (12 v DC system, there was also a 24 V
version AR6/AT7) is a matching set. The RX and TX are identical size units,
very similar in size to the TCS, all matching panel colors and knobs,
identical cases. As opposed to the TCS, these sets had the dynamotors built
in the receiver and transmitter. The receiver has a local and remote tuning
a la ARB, with the same type flexible shaft, but the remote dial is
identical to the local dial, and it's built into the control box and not
separate units as in the ARB. The transmitter has only local frequency
control. The receiver also had DF capabilities with a loop antenna.
