End quote. I'm just wondering if we can narrow down what kind of radio at
the "tower" this might have been.

	Well, The SCR-624 was the ground control version of the SCR-522 so that
might have been the set for VHF. On the other hand the Navy TCS was used at
some  Pacific bases for HF comms. I think one of the John Wayne WWII movies
had a TCS talking to the pilot who was sacrificing himself and there were
Jeep mounted TCS sets too. Come to think of it, there were some
Hallicrafters radios too.
