[Milsurplus] Cleaning Canvas

Hi all. 
 
I have just received an interesting set and am in the process of cleaning it. It has a canvas cover with pockets for mic, phones aerial etc but is quite dirty. Its the light tan coloured type of cavas webbing material.
 
Does anyone have tips about cleaning it? I have simply washed such in the past with warm soapy water but just wondered if anyone had a better idea. Any wonder chemicals out there that will revive its condition without destroying the fibres.
