I heard they had something similar on the:
"Comms for Gray-Painted Military Aircraft
that Fly in Thunderstorms South of Jamaica,
except for Helicopters" list.
The list owner thought: "Why should I share
bandwidth and knowledge with the wider community?
I don't want to read posts about those nasty GREEN aircraft!
(someone twists my arm and forces me to read them, you know)
And helicopters; they're just boring.
Heaven forbid that I should expect to tolerate other people's
interests and posts, so that they will tolerate mine.
Golden Rule?? Bah!
Besides; I can be a *sigh*.... LIST OWNER!"
So now he's over there with his four friends, endlessly
posting the same stuff (since there's no cross pollination
to bring in new ideas) and telling each other how great they are
and how wonderful it is not seeing those pesky green aircraft posts.
I'd tell you their names,
but I haven't seen them in awhile and have forgotten them......
I wonder how much more really interesting information
has been lost to the wider community because it was
posted on one of these obscure splinter lists.
I never knew I was interested in "Cold War Comms"
because no one ever exposed me to it.
I bet I'm not alone. Wonder what else I'll never get to see
because of this intolerance of other people's interests,
and this infernal, continual ego-driven fragmentation?
