[Milsurplus] One Way to Keep Our Hobby Alive

I never felt bad about selling a radio to an MV collector or a re-enactor, because i can
have confidence they are going to keep it in immaculate condition.
( It just occurred to me that in the past a few lunkheads have indeed "emptied out"
radios so they could put a CB or cassette player inside - even WW2 German (troop
entertainment) radios! Hopefully this lower species has crawled off to extinction. )
In connection with these 2 groups, it occurs to me also that the solid stating of WW2
radios may make them even more appealing, as solving the continuous vacuum-tube
maintenance realities and power hassles that prevent them from being successful
plug and play radios. I was reading some re-enactment article recently and the writer
commented on the "huge" radio which unfortunately was not workable. The radios
would not even have to have anything like the original distance range, as re-enactments
and such occur on limited acreage. As for the licensing situation, maybe the FCC here
might allow a "special event" and low power usage of some frequencies, such as happens
in the Netherlands for similar events. Yes, that is a real moon shot, to think that might
happen, right? Also to maybe somehow center on license-free frequencies in the CB
band and the 49 Mcs. walkie talkie band. Just an idea, anyway!
BTW, i see the solid-state BC-611 fellow did sell one of the two he offered.
