Multiple configurations covered under the same nomenclature. As an example,
instead of having AN/GRC-9, AN/GRC-9A, AN/GRC-9X, AN/GRC-9Y, AN/GRC-87 and
AN/VRC-34, they could (had all the configurations been available in the
beginning) have all been covered as AN/GRC-9 plus AN/GRC-9A (V).
