I dug out the manual i have on this jewel.  It's AN 11-60AA-1 from June 
1943 and is called "Handbook of Operation and Service Instructions" 
Automatic Pilot Type C-1.

In the back it shows "unit to unit J box interconnections" for the B-17. 
B24, B-29 and the AT-11 which i think was also called the "Kansan".

Just additional fuel for the smoldering embers.
